Tyres are a vital part of any vehicle, but there is no perfect answer for how much time does tyres last. It depends on many factors such as driving skills, roads, tyres maintenance and many other factors. Factors also affecting the life span of tyres are cuts, damages and punctures which leads to tyre replacement.
Recommendation for changing tyre is around 4-5 years or 50,000-60,000 kms even if it is highly maintained. Many other basics which are taken into consideration for changing of tyres are:
1. Tread Depth: if the tread depth in your tyres varies than it is sign for changing your tyres. As per CMVR (Central Motor Vehicle Rules) depth of tread should be 1.6mm.
2. Wear and Tear: Poor alignment or constant high speed may lead to wear and tear in tyres. Such uneven deteriorates the quality of rides and also make vehicles unstable during high speed. For this tyres should be checked on regular basis for the personal safety.
3. Road conditions: When car is drove thorough terrains, massive ruts or muddy roads it results in uneven tyre wear and tear which also results in cracked side walls. Regular checking by tyre expert should be done.
4. Driving Habits: Sudden application of brakes or acceleration can cause scrapping in the tyre. These may also cause unusual noise or vibration.
We recommend car users to have a regular inspection on tyres and take appropriate action to ensure road safety.
